Who Is the Knower? Identity, Values, and Background

The core theme of the TOK course is Knowledge and the Knower, and every student explores it. Where the areas of knowledge look outward at fields such as science and history, this theme looks inward, at you as a knower: how your identity, values, community, and experiences shape what you know, what you take for granted, and how you judge new claims. It is the natural starting point because you cannot examine knowledge without examining the person doing the knowing.
