Assessment Guide: Exploring Music in Context

What this task is

Exploring music in context is the research-focused component of the course. Working as a researcher, you investigate diverse music through the four areas of inquiry and across personal, local, and global contexts, and you present a portfolio that demonstrates your understanding of how music works and what it means. The portfolio combines written analysis with practical musical material—short excerpts of performing and creating that show your engagement with the music you have studied. In other words, you do not only write about music; you also demonstrate understanding through sound.
