Assessment Guide: Film Portfolio

This guide is based on the IB Film guide with first assessment in 2024. Grade boundaries are set by the IB for each examination session, so any mark ranges given here are approximate and unofficial, intended only to show how bands work.

What the task is

The Film Portfolio is the internally assessed component in which you demonstrate your development as a filmmaker across chosen film production roles. You take on specific roles, complete practical film exercises and a film project, document your creative process, and reflect critically on your work. The portfolio evidences both your practical skill in your chosen roles and your understanding of how film concepts and techniques inform real production decisions.
